Puttur, Oct 16: Thieves entered a home at Mudipinadka in Kunthur village in the taluk on the night of Friday October 15 and decamped with cash and ornaments, even as family members slept inside. The thieves left K T Abdul Rahiman from Mudipinadka poorer at the end.
The thieves opened three cupboards inside the bedroom, and took away Rs 75,000 in cash and eight sovereigns of gold ornaments. The family members said that the thieves failed notice that a box containing ten sovereigns of gold had been kept separately inside the same cupboard.
The clothes from the cupboard were seen to have been heaped behind the house, with an iron rod by its side.
After Abdul Rahiman filed a complaint, Kadaba police visited the house and inspected the modus operandi of the thieves and loss suffered by the family. Police circle inspector, Anil Kulkarni, Kadaba police sub-inspector, Ravi, and police constables visited the village.
A large number of people had gathered at the house of Rahiman after the news of theft spread. The fact that none of the bolts, windows or doors were broken by the thieves, had given rise to doubts about the entry of thieves inside the house. The house owner feels that the thief would have come inside during the day and hidden himself behind the racks or inside the attic of the toilet till midnight.
Sniffer dog and finger print experts were summoned. The sniffer dog went around a 150 metres radius of the house before coming back.
