Mangalore, Dec 30: December is the month of festivals of various faiths, such as Bakrid, Christmas and others.

Message conveyed by all these festivals is the Universal brotherhood, peace and communal harmony, said Fr Denis D'Sa, administrator of Fr Muller Medical College (FMMC).

He was delivering the inaugural address at the conferment of ‘Taulava Award ‘07’ on veteran Tulu actor, playwright and film-maker K N Taylor, organized by Tulu Nataka Kalavid and film-maker K N Taylor.

The city is enjoying the flavours of literature like Kalotsava and Yakshotsava. The conferment of the award is another festival that adds to the cultural festivals.

"Persons who lit up the lamp of theatre may not be among us, but the light lit up by them will ever live with us. They are the invaluable asset of the nation. A proverb in English reads that making others laugh is a divine thing," he added.

'The lyrics of recent times are replete double entendre, but the people involved in theatre activities are engaged in gifting a healthy society, which is free of all these vulgarity. Fine arts finetune the minds and society,' he added.

Dr Na Damodar Shetty, head of department of Kannada, St Aloysius College, presided over the function. Saundarya Ramesh of Dasarahalli municipal council and others were present on the occasion.
