Karkala, Oct 17: Chairman and managing director of Bengaluru-based Century Group, Dr P Dayananda Pai, has been chosen as president of Vishwa GSB Sammelan scheduled to be held at Hejamady in Udupi district on December 25. Dr Pai has been liberally donating since the last several decades towards causes like employment, education, sports, social and cultural fields.
The convention is being organized by GSB Samaja Hitarakshana Vedike with the aim of providing global touch to pro-community initiatives, create social awareness, achieving organizational unity of GSB community and make the initiatives all-encompassing.
Dr Dayananda Pai worked as the founder president of Mangaluru-based Vishwa Konkani Kendra and president of Bengaluru and Tirupathi units of Kashi Math. He also happens to be a trustee of BMS Education Trust Bengaluru which operates three engineering colleges, a law college, a management college and a women's college. He also functioned as treasurer of Karnataka State Cricket Association, vice president of Indian Weightlifting Federation etc. He is also involved with Karnataka Hockey Association and Table Tennis Association. Dr Pai has won several awards and recognition like honorary doctorates from Mysuru and Mangaluru universities, Karnataka Udyoga Ratna award, Navaratna award of Gokarna Math etc.
About organizers: GSB Hitarakshana Vedike has been actively serving the interests of GSB community since the last five years. It has organized two district level conferences, as well as five zonal level and taluk evel conferences. It also implemeneted nine society-centric schemes for the welfare of the community, and thereby earned lot of goodwill of the people.
The organizing committee of the convention with Dr Pai as president will receive suggestions, cooperation, support and guidance of well-known personalities from the country and abroad, said convener of the Vedike, R Vivekananda Shenoy, president, G Satish Hegde, and general secretary, Sanoor Narasimha Kamath.
