Udupi, Oct 17: “The recent suicide case of Chaitra from Puttur should be investigated by IPS level enquiry team and should complete its investigation at the earliest. Her family is demanding FIR under POCSO act. There is a doubt that the victims are close to the minister. So there was no quick actions by police,” said former MLA Raghupathi Bhat in a press meet on Monday, October 17.
Speaking about sand issue, he said, “The district in-charge minister has completely failed to handle this issue. Udaya Suvarna who is one of the workers at Pramod Madwaraj’s fish factory, brought ban order from national green tribunal Chennai on sand mining. This creates a doubt against minister Pramod that he is also involved in the sand issue. If it is continued like this, BJP will take initiative to start traditional sand mining to help the poor for constructing home.”
“Pramod Madhwaraj has also failed in handling his portfolio of fisheries. No kerosene is provided to fishing boats though the fishing season has started already in the month of September. Even the district commissioner is not responding to the calls properly.” Bhat alleged.
Further lambasting at minister Pramod Madhwaraj, he said, “His comments regarding the food habit of Rama and Krishna that they were non-vegetarian is getting cheap publicity. He is in a responsible position and these kinds of statements are no good to him.”
“Such statement was not necessary on Valmiki Jayanti and as a minister of fisheries, he just tried to promote fish food. My question to him is whether he accepts Bhagavad Geeta or not?” Bhat concluded with a question.
