Bantwal, Oct 18: A country bomb kept by miscreants for hunting wild animals exploded and killed a cow here.
A-four-year old cow, belonging to Radhakrishna Moolya from Chellangaru, used to go to the hills every day for grazing. As the cow did not return even after evening, on Monday, Radhakrishna and his mother Appi went to the hill and searched for the cow. They saw their cow below a tree with its face ruptured.
The family members lifted the cow, brought it home and tried to administer medicine. The neck and the face of the cow were burnt and it died due to severe loss of blood on Tuesday October 18.
Vittal police station assistant sub inspector Ananda Poojary, staff Ramachandra, Ramesh, Jayakumar, Pravin Rai and others visited the place. Adyanadka veterinary doctor Parameshwar Naika conducted postmortem and sent some of the parts of the cow to the laboratory for investigation.
Vittal Bhajrang Dal leader Jayanth C H, CITU leader Ramanna Vitla and others visited the house and consoled them. They urged for legal action against the guilty and suitable compensation.
