Mysuru, Oct 20: MLA representing K R Pet constituency in the district, K C Narayana Gowda of the JD(S), is said to have abused and manhandled executive engineer of Hemavathi Dam in connection of release of water.
Gowda had led a protest with the coming together of a large of number of farmers who were worried that non-release of water would destroy their standing crops on Wednesday. At the culmination of the protest, the farmers had joined together in front of Command Area Development Authority at K R Pet.
The MLA, after entering the office of the executive officer, reportedly instructed the latter to call up chief engineer of the project, Prasanna, and ask him to come to the office for discussing the matter. When Narayana called Prasanna, he was reportedly told by the officer that he was on leave and hence could not come to the office.
At this, the MLA got wild, scolded the officer by using harsh words, sent the papers on the table flying, and said he would set the office on fire. He also reportedly attempted to pull the officer out of his office by holding his collar but police circle inspector, K Santosh, and sub-inspector, Arun Kumar, who were on the spot, rescued the officer from his clutches.
