Mangalore: Logo for International Kite Festival Released at DC’s Office

Mangalore, Jan 1: The logo for the ONGC-MRPL International Kite Festival 2008, which would be held at Panambur beach on Saturday January 19 and Sunday January 20, organized by Team Mangalore was released at District Commissioner’s office on Tuesday January 1.
Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao released the logo and urged all to work for the success of this kite festival.
Briefing the media, Giridar Kamath, coordinator of Team Mangalore, said that competitors from many European countries as well as from 5 states across India will be participating in this festival. The theme of the festival will be ‘global warming’. Earlier, Kite Festival was held in January 2005, which drew a record crowd. This year’s festival will be held for two days, in order to ease the pressure of crowd, he added.
The logo of the festival shows six kites of different colours, rising in synergy on a white background. Five of these kites depict the five elements of this universe, namely, earth, water, fire, air and space. The sixth kite placed at the base in black colour shows the strength and authority of the human element, which not used judiciously and which at times acts as a negative force, he continued.
Superintendent of Police, Satheesh Kumar, additional SP Lokesh Kumar, S Ajit Kumar Hegde, joint commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation, Nitin J Shetty, Yatish Baikampady, B Sarvesh Rao and others were present on this occasion.
