Bengaluru, Oct 28: Karnataka chief minister, Siddaramaiah, said that his government has wholeheartedly tried to create an environment of harmony and mutual trust in the coast to tackle communal clashes some organizations are engaged in there.
Speaking at 'Surajya Samavesha' organized at the palace ground here on Thursday October 27, the chief minister pointed out that because of organizations and parties which are engaged in planting the seeds of communal tension between different communities in Karnataka coast, there happened to be large scale incidents of communal violence and clashes. "By organizing Padayatra for harmony, Congress party succeeded in warding off a sense of fear and tension that had got deep-rooted in the minds of people living in Udupi and other coastal areas," he claimed.
Speaking earlier, All India Congress Committee general secretary, Digvijay Singh had called upon the government to be alert about the organizations that are engaged in fuelling communal passions in coastal areas of the state.
