Mangaluru, Oct 29: Deepavali, the most widely celebrated Hindu festival in the country and abroad, happens to be associated with lights. Diyas made in different designs and colours look to light up our lives. In addition, 'Goodudeepas' that come in different shapes, sizes, and colours, which are hung at the topmost points of every house and building seem to beckon one and all to look up and dream big.
Deepavali happens to be the occasion on which people pay tributes to their erstwhile king, Balindra, return of Lord Rama to Ayodha after annihilation of Ravana, perform Laxmi Puja, offer puja to cows, and also perform puja to their shops and establishments.
Decorative designs, taking oil bath, bursting of crackers of different forms and sizes, distributing sweets and presents, and meeting relatives apart from visiting temples happen to be the routine during the Deepavali.
