Mangaluru: Huge national flag begins fluttering at international airport

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Oct 28: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, and Dakshina Kannada member of parliament, Nalin Kumar Kateel, inaugurated the facility in the airport today morning, setting a huge national flag soaring into the serene sky. This national flag that is 30 feet long and 20 feet wide will remain on the flag post that has been specially erected for the purpose, all through days and nights.

The flag post erected for hoisting the flag is 100 feet high. This is the largest national flag from the coastal region. The pole stands in the car parking area in front of the airport terminal. The expenditure of around Rs 13 lac spent in this connection has been borne by the airport.

Such huge national flags have already been existent in New Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata airports. As per the instructions of the union home department, huge national flags have now been installed in various international airports including the city.

The small-sized national flags that were in existence in airports till now had to be hoisted in the morning and lowered in the evening. This new flag does not require to be brought down, as it will continue on the pole all through. For making the flag radiant and look more attractive, lighting has been provided for the flag.

Airport director J T Radhakrishna, CISF officer Amith Kumar and others from airport were present during the inauguration.

    Mr.Jamal

Sir,I had never seen a pole of 100 Meters erected in the vicinity of airport.Whereas rest of the world approach and takeoff path is always clear with all obstruction.
To be smart city Mangalore is exceptional were life is hardly matters.
For a captain point of view it is obstruction.

How is this obstruction? The runway is far away and in the opposite direction! At this close distance to the airport the plane is aligned with the runway so no plane will pass over it ! Plus it's height is almost the same at the airport's , so will Yaoundé's say to keep only a ne floor for the airport! Such nonsense!!

Authorities must carefully control the quality of the fabrics used in the production of Indian flags. From fiber ion to weaving to final finishing, each step is carefully uted. Flags must be colorfast to sun and rain, lightweight, and have high tensile strength. To achieve these results, one must design and construct the fabric to exacting specifications. The flag should be proper in size [Length & width].
Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoke wheel, in navy blue at its center should be embroidered. Nylon is the most popular and versatile flag fabric available. Nylon's combination of strength and brilliant display, along with its quick drying ability, make it suitable for a wide range of applications. Great in rainy areas, its light weight and close weave enable it to fly in the slightest of breeze, giving the fullest visual effect.
Hope they will consider it. Thank you and Jai Hind.

A beautiful reminder to the guests arriving at Bajpe that India stands proud united and tall. I hope the flag was made from polyester and not cotton. Or else, we will have a torn flag soon.

MIA has seen major air accident due to land strip for which victims still waiting for compensation.

Erecting 100 meter flag only add to worries, when aircraft want to land in rainy season with poor visibility. This will further aggravate the problem.

Mangalore has name called 'Bauta Gooda' where it could have been erected.

    Unity in diversity!

United we stand, divided we fall. It's nice to see our honourable minister Sri. Ramnath Rai and Honourable MP Sri. Nalin Kumar together at the inauguration ceremony of hoisting of our proud vibrant national flag installed at Mangalore Int'l. Airport.

India's strength lies in unity in diversity, both qualities to be desired within the society. Irrespective of different political parties, religions, caste, creed, cultures, languages, etc., let us all sink our differences and live together with peace and harmony, under one roof.

Unity is strength. God bless our motherland. Jai Hind.
