Mangaluru, Oct 29: “Let there be no notion that Muslim community is fragmented due to differences. We are united in between differences. Do not interfere in Shariyat”, said Udupi composite Khazi Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar.
He was speaking after presiding over in a protest meeting condemning government interference in Shariyat law and opposing uniform civil code held jointly by SJU, SJM, SYS, SSF, SMA, SEDC, KMJC, KCF organizations in front of deputy commissioner’s office on Friday, October 28.
“Islam is a complete religion. It has no scope for additions and deletions. Prophet Mohammed also did not have permission to bring about changes in it. In the circumstances, we strongly condemn the union government’s interference in topic concerning triple talaq. The government will have to face strong opposition if such changes are brought about,” he said.
“Talaq is an action that is not liked by even the Almighty. Talaq will be inevitable only after making sure that husband and wife cannot live together. There are several rules and provisions to support girls in Islam. Three talaqs cannot be uttered at once. The woman should be given time before uttering first talaq. There should also be a gap between saying second talaq. There should be one intermediary for the man and one for the woman for discussion before expressing talaq for third time. It becomes inevitable only after ensuring that no compromise is possible even after discussions.” he added.
M S M Abdurrashid Zaini said that the attempt to change Islam’s Shariyat by the union government is against the constitution.
