Mangaluru, Oct 31: Minister of primary and high school education, minority and Wakf, Tanveer Sait on Sunday October 30, inaugurated the Moulana Azad Bhavan for minorities constructed by department of minorities in Pandeshwar in city.
“A Bhavan is constructed to have all the offices pertaining to minorities under one roof. Such Bhavans have been already opened in Bagalkote and Coorg. Third such Bhavan in the state is ready in Mangaluru. Similar offices will be opened at taluk level also,” he said.
“Far-sighted projects for SSLC and PUC students are prepared in minority Bhavans. Rs 2 crore has been spent for Moulana Azad minority Bhavan of Dakshina Kannada district. Rs 36 lacs will be released for lift and furniture. There are three pre- metric hostels and two residential schools in the district. Four hostels are announced in budget for 2016-17 and the work will be started if land is available”, he added.
MLA J R Lobo presided over the programme. Ministers B Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, MLA B A Moiden Bava, Beary academy president B A Mohammed Hanif, Mangaluru taluk panchayat member Mohammed Monu, minority welfare department director Akram Pasha, Zilla panchayat member Shahul Hameed, Y Mohammed Kunhi, Kanachur Monu and district Wakf advisory committee president S M Rashid were present.
