Mangaluru, Nov 1: The formation of Karnataka state, or Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with a splendid ceremony by the district administration at Nehru Maidan here on Monday November 1.
District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai hoisted the flag first and then he received the guard of honour from the civil police, NCC Air, Navy and Army wings, fire service, KSRP, traffic police, police band and others who participated in the march past.
Ramanatha Rai conferred the district Rajyotsava Awards 2016 on 22 achievers from various fields.
Listing out the achievements and plans of the state government, he said, "In the past three years our government has implemented several pro-people projects for the welfare of the society. Rs 48 crore has been allotted for 'Anna Bhagya' scheme in 2016-17 in Dakshina Kannada. About 2.39 lac children have benefited by the Kshira Bhagya scheme in the district. 70691 applications are received from People who have built houses in government land in the rural areas for land deed under 94 C. About 12,599 applications have been sanctioned and11,625 people have been given the land deed. Under 94 CC in urban areas about 24001 applications have been recieved and date for submission of application has been extended until November 27."
"In order to provide land deed to people who have built houses and are residing in buffer zone of forest area, the department has bought correction to forest protection act 41(2). In 230 gram panchayats, Bapuji Seva Centres have been opened and aimed at providing hundred plus service of revenue and rural development department. Under Manaswini and Maithri schemes about 3887 beneficiaries have been given the benefits. To remove errors in the documents of land belonging to farmers, Revenue Adalat has been started and so far 532 adalats have been held in the district and 26,368 applications have been disposed off." Rai added.
"International level swimming pool is being constructed at Yemmekere by youth empowerment and sports department. In order to upgrade Nehru Maidan to international standards Rs 25 lacs has been sanctioned. In the second phase of Nagaroththana scheme Rs 30 crore worth work has been completed. Under SFC scheme about Rs 12 crore has been sanctioned to corporation for the year 2016-17. With the view to connect Muthur in Mangaluru taluk and Badabellur in Bantwal taluk, a bridge has been constructed across Phalguni River at the cost of Rs 1.47 crore." he continued.
"Under chief ministers Harish Santwana scheme about 1844 people have benefited and Rs 1.17 crores has been sanctioned. Under Nagara Jyothi scheme, more importance is given to LED bulbs and under Hosa Belaku scheme LED bulbs are given at concessional rates to the customers. On October 9, chief minister has laid foundation to veterinary college in Koila. Rs 32 lacs worth grants have been sanctioned to Endosulfan victims in year 2016-17. Infrastructural projects have been undertaken in 9 religious places at the cost of Rs 5.29 crore." he said.
"Under shoe Bhagya scheme, 108,575 children have been given shoes and socks at the cost of Rs 2.63 crore in the year 2016-17. Under Gram Vikas scheme plans are chalked out to develop 34 villages and Rs 1184 lacs has been released for the purpose. Kannada Rajyotsava should not be limited to just one day. Kannada should be celebrated every day," Rai said, urging the people to strive for the preservation and promotion of Kannada and work for the development of Karnataka state." Rai concluded.
Earlier, a procession jointly organized by DK district Kannada Sahitya Parishad and the district administration was taken out from Dr B R Ambedkar Circle to Nehru Maidan. The procession reverberated with a festive mood as a number of vibrant tableaux depicted richness of Kannada language and culture of the land.
Laptops were distributed to students who have secured excellent marks in SSLC exams.

Udupi, Nov 1: Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with a slew of cultural programjmes at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial open theatre ground, Beedinagudde here on Tuesday, November 1.
District in-charge minister, Pramod Madhwaraj, inspected the guard of honour. A colourful march past by ten contingents led by the district armed reserve police force was held at the ground.
Addressing the gathering, Madhwaraj said that November 1 happens to be a very memorable day that calls for celebrations for Kannadigas.
He spoke on various developmental works, plans and programmes, which have been taken up by the government of Karnataka. Speaking about achievements of revenue department, he explained that 1, 61,889 Antyodaya and 7, 55,514 BPL cards have been distributed for BPL families under Annabhagya scheme. The government is investing Rs 211 lacs on this programme every month, he added.
Under social security scheme, nearly 1,21,276 beneficiaries are enjoying its benefits in the district. The government has released Rs 242.72 crores for this purpose, he pointed out.
Several Bapuji centers have been set up in 158 gram panchayats to speed up various panchayat level works, he s aid.
Under Christian development scheme, Rs 25 lac has been released for building Minorities Community hall. Rs 1.76 crore has been released for 2,926 minority students under ‘Vidyasiri’ scheme, he added.
Nearly 25 villages have been selected under Grama vikas Yojana and Rs 75 lac has been distributed.
The government has decided to build break water for Gangolli, at a cost of about cost Rs 102 crore, he stated.
Elaborating on the plans to developing sports, minister said that a new sports academy, as well as a training center will come up in the district for budding athletes, with a capacity to accommodate 150 students.
The government has decided build a synthetic lawn tennis court near district stadium at Ajjarkad at an estimated cost of Rs 3.50 crore and Rs 75 lacs has been released in first phase.
Minister Pramod in his concluding remarks, said, ‘each citizen of India should uphold his integration of one’s nation and should work for integrated development of the nation.
The day began with offering of pooja for the portrait of Kannada Bhavaneshwari at MGM college ground. Then a procession was taken out to mark Kannada Rajyotsava.
A colourful cutural progrmme was presented by students of various schools, which delighted the gathering.
District deputy commissioner, T Venkatesh, zilla panchayat CEO, Priyanka Mary Francis, zilla panchayat president, Dinkar Babu, taluk panchayat president, Nalini Pradeep Rao, district police Superintendent, K T Balakrishna, and others were present.
