Dubai, Nov 3: United Brahmavarites (UB), an association of Brahmavarites gathered along with their families’ friends and well-wishers, on Friday, October 28 at India Club to celebrate the completion of five successful years’ of the association through ‘Unity Fiesta’ a special programme.
The main focus of Unity Fiesta was to bring together and enhance the mutual bonds of all Brahmavarites. The gathering gave a great opportunity for all Brahmavarites to exchange greetings and strengthen the mutual bonds.
Sannu Monis, Boliye a well-known personality in Konkani community, gifted poet, writer, critic, actor, director and dramatist was the chief guest of the function.
The programme began at 12.30 pm with a melodious welcome song ‘Konkan Maicha Mogachi’ written by James Pius and composed by Rupert Vaz and sung by the members of the UB group. Compere Uttam Menezes gave a small introduction about United Brahmavarites and lauded UB’s efforts for organising such get-together which not only brings people together but also enriches cordiality and enhances unity.
In his welcome speech president Jeevan Sequeira thanked all the members for their support and reminded of the responsibilities of the association in responding to the problems and needs of Brahmavarites and sought the suggestions, encouragement and guidance. In his address, he specially thanked all the supporters who have supported the United Brahmavarites for the last 5 years.
President Jeevan Sequeira, vice President Alwyn Crasta and Secretary Philomena D’Costa welcomed the chief guest Sannu Monis, Boliye, senior UB member Thomas Suares and mentor Robert Sequeira.
A brief report about the forum and the future plans and activities was presented by Philomena D’Costa, secretary of UB.
In her brief introduction of the chief guest, cultural secretary Janet Sequeira outlined the contributions and achievements of Sannu Monis, Boliye to Konkani language and literature. She listed few of the awards, achievements and recognitions acknowledging Sannub Monis’s work and his association with the UB group.
In his address, Monis praised the good work and growth of UB group in five years and appreciated for broadening the unity limit to the geographical boundary of Brahmavar and wished growth and prosperity to the group to continue the good work. He also appreciated all the supporters for their strong backing to UB.
The elegant dance performances by UB kids Ashline, Ashtrine, Shayan, Chandini, Daniel, Jovian, Nestor, Kelrina, Ancita, Yashaswi, Alrish, Mayola and Mekhla had the audience asking for more. Little Ancel stole everyone’s attention by his Konkani song Chouvtha Classinth Shiktha.
The special attractions were the Goan traditional dances performed by UB Moms, Philomena, Nithasha, Janet, Jacintha and Shailaja along with Ishitha and Mom Dad pair dance by Derral & Roshani, Prakash & Juliet, Newton and Anitha
Mother and son pair of Rita and Jovian added the Kolavary dance spice to the programme.

Felicitation of main supporters Robert Sequeira, Alfred D’costa, Edil Menezas and CharlesD’souza for their continual support.
Compere Uttam Menezes exhibited exemplary skills in keeping the audience busy and attentive. His unique brand of compering interspersed with jokes, spot games and general knowledge questions to the gathering came in praise of the audience and the organisers.
Renowned band Eagle mesmerized the audience with mimicry and rhythmic music, soulful songs in Konkani, Kannada and Hindi. Their foot tapping Baila brought all the audiences to the dance floor.
DJ mix was aptly handled by Lancy.
Towards the end of the programme, a lucky Brahmavarite was chosen by a surprise draw.
The well-organized Unity Fiesta gave a clear indication that United Brahmavarites and its office-bearers are committed to delivering quality programmes. The programme came to an end with the energetic Baila that had almost everyone storming to the dance floor. Roshan Almeida caught all the scintillating moments in his camera.
The response by the attendees showed that UB Fiesta was eagerly-awaited and most needed one too. Overall, it was a fun-filled and enjoyable day for all who attended the event.
