Mumbai: Dr Indu Shahani Sworn As Sheriff of Metro

Mumbai, Jan 6: Governor of Maharashtra, SM Krishna, administered the oath of office to Dr (Mrs) Indu Shahani as the new Sheriff of metro, at a brief ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, on Saturday, January 5. Dr Shahani will hold the post of Sheriff till December 19, 2008.

Chief minister, Vilasrao Deshmukh, chairman of Maharastra Legislative Council, Shivajirao Deshmukh, union minister for Petroleum, Murli Deora, Member of Parliament, Milind Deora, ministers, Anil Deshmukh and Suresh Shetty, former Sheriffs, F T Khorakiwala, Jagannath Hegde and Dr Vijaypat Singhania, Dr L H Hiranandani, Niranjan Hiranandani, chief secretary, Johny Joseph, Police Commissioner, DN Jadhav and other eminent personalities were present on the occasion. 

Dr (Mrs) Indu Shahani is a well known educationist, presently serving as principal of HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. She was born March 19, 1954. Dr Indu Shahani holds a PhD in commerce from the University of Mumbai. She is a member of IB Education Committee and IB Asia-Pacific Regional Advisory Committee. She is a visiting faculty member of UC Berkeley and the School of Management NJIT, USA.
