Patna, Jan 7: Renowned beautician Shahnaz Hussain's only son Sameer died in a Patna hospital on Monday of serious injuries sustained after a fall from his sixth floor apartment, police said, expressing the suspicion that he had either been pushed or had committed suicide.
Sameer Hussain, 32, who was president of his mother's company, was a frequent visitor to the Bihar capital where he looked after the business. On Sunday evening, he was found lying at the bottom of the Maqbool Hussain apartments in busy Exhibition Road.
Police rushed him to the Rajeshwar hospital in Kankarbagh area. According to a police official here, Hussain battled for life for hours and died Monday morning.
Police sources said his body had been taken to the Patna Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination. "It is difficult to say anything about cause of his death, whether it was a suicide or a murder," an official said.
"We will look into his death case from all angles as he died in mysterious circumstances," he added.
In New Delhi, Siddhartha Sengupta, manager, media and public relations of the company, said that Hussain had gone to his in-laws' home in Patna with his wife Rabiya and daughter.
"I got to know about the fall around 6.30 pm last evening. He was immediately rushed to the hospital. However, due to multiple injuries his life couldn't be saved," Sengupta told IANS.
Refuting reports that Sameer committed suicide, he added: "We don't know exactly what happened. His body has been sent for post-mortem and we don't know how we would proceed further. I mean, when would we get his body for burial."
"Shahnaz Hussain is on bed rest on the recommendation of physicians and one can understand how painful it must be for her that she will not be able to go to Patna. We have sent some people there to look after things," he added.
