Mangalore, Jan 7: The civic authorities demolished unauthorized shops located on the basement of West Gate Centre, at Pumpwell by National Highway 48, on Monday January 7.  The unauthorized toilet and steps built on it to access the road, were also demolished using earthmovers.

The building owner did not pose any resistance to the demolition, since the shops built in the basement including toilet were unauthorized.  Civic authorities had served notice a few days ago.  Accordingly, the shopkeeper had shifted the stock of Mahendra pump sets stored in the premises.

The rolling shutter of the shop was broken open by using gas welding machine and the steps built on the top of it, to access the road were also demolished by civic authorities.

It is high time that severe actions like this are taken as otherwise the unauthorised constructions go on without restrction and cause nuisance to pubic at large besides encouraging others to start similar constructions. THe answer lies in timely action to create a sort of terror in the mind of such people.

Thanks for the Job well done at Westgate Center. Now the Demolishion Crew can head for the next demolishion job at Felix Pai Bazar. A building, recently built illegally even after the MCC sent a notifying letter. It was exposed in local news papers. This building certainly breaks the building codes. So now is the time for Civic Authorities to remove it-ASAP. Let us all watch Civic Authorities, how true they are with their actions.

Recently,Civic Authorities removed bunch of street vendors near Fr.Muller's Hospital. Was that action to give good clean impression to Mr.Kalam's visit to hospital or for the benefit to the public? As of today, there are more vendors next to hospital gate towards the circle than before.

I wish to tell some othr facts about the M.C.C.officers.the Engineerss are hands in gloves with officers. They purposely see that the buildings are built with violations and more area is constructed. At the time of obtaining completion certificate they ask us to pay huge amounts to all the concerned officials including the Commisioner.

The builder hardly knows the specifications such as set back,at the begining stage.Only after the construction is complete, the set back etc,can be measured by laymen like the builder(majority of them being less than elemetary school students).Instead of targetting the builder cancel the licence of the Architect who has involved himself and supervised the entire construction from begining to the end.

Why should he allowed to go scot free. He should not be allowed enjoy the fat amount made by misleading the builder. Also the concerned A.T.P,T.P, Engineer, and commisioner should be slapped with criminal suits agaist them. These persons all should be held responsible. they have all made money from the builder. For murder cutting only the fingers of the murderer is not enough.Hang the entire body of the murderer.

It is better to construct a flyover over Sujatha hotel as no one has guts to demolish this building for the past 30 years.

Thanks to the civil authorities for their brave action against illegal constructions in the city limit.I dont see any disturbance or inconveniance to the general public at this site. Awaiting more action of this kind from the authorites whrere the illegal constructions really effects the general publics smooth movement , especially in Hampankatta area. Lesson to the builders of such illegal construction is DONT DISAPPOINT THE AUTHORITIES BY DENYING WHATEVER THEY ASK. otherwise be prepared for such actions. MERA BHARATH MAHAN

Its a nice step from civic authority. Well done. but there are plenty buildings in Mangalore city, which are not constructed according to muncipal town planning rules. So please take action on those buildings ( owners of this buildings are poltically supported}. I wish more action to be taken from civic authorities.
