Sharjah, Nov 6: In what may be termed as a proud moment for Kannadigas especially those in the UAE, Shanthi Prakashana, a publication from Karnataka, is taking part in the 35th Sharjah International Book Fair, which began on November 2 and will go on till November 12.
Every year United Arab Emirates organizes Sharjah International Book Fair in the first ten days of November. Ruler of Sharjah Dr Shaik Sulthan Bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi is the motivational force behind this book fair. The first edition of the book fair was held in 1982, and today it is ranked fourth in the world in terms of international book fairs.
Shanthi Prakashana publishes books in different features like religion, social, political and culture. Till date it has published more than 270 titles. It also has three mobile literature vans travelling all over Karnataka to spread human values and establish an atmosphere of brotherhood.
During the inaugural ceremony of Shanthi book stall, president of Abu Dhabi Kannada Sangha Sarvottham Shetty expressed his best wishes and said, "Shanthi Prakashana is a value-based publication house. It wish that it grows to greater heights."
On the occasion, ProPharma Group CEO Dr Muhammad Abdul Khair released part 6 of the world-knowned book 'Thafheem-ul-Qur'an'. Former president of Dubai Kannada Sangha Mallikarjuna Gowda launched Shanthi Prakashana mobile app and Uma Vidyadar, president of Dubai Kannada Sangha released the newly-published book of Hadeeth titled 'Prakasha Bindugalu'.
Muhammad Kunhi, manager of Shanthi Prakashana in his speech said, "There is no fable in Shanthi Prakashana's publications. Mutual understanding between religions can eradicate disbeliefs and promote space for human values and this is the ultimate goal that Shanthi Prakashana aims to achieve through literature."
National president of Islamic Cultural Center, UAE, Arief Shareef, ICC Sharjah president Abdul Qadeer, SQR Ilyas, Akthar Hussain Bhatkal, Noor Ashfak Karkala, convener of Shanthi book stall Abdul Salam Deralakatte, V K Rashid, Hafeez Kudroli, Ashraf Hasan Ullal, Mariyam Shaheera, and Ashraf Madi were present.
