Party files case against CM's media advisor over tweet
Bengaluru, Nov 8 (DHNS): The state BJP will hold protests across the state on Tuesday over the Siddaramaiah’s government’s decision to go ahead with Tipu Jayanti and the recent murders of RSS and Sangh Parivar workers in the state.
Political temperatures are bound to soar in the coming days as the BJP is planning to declare November 10, the day the government celebrates Tipu Jayanti, a ‘black day’. Another issue the party is taking to the people is the recent tweet by Dinesh Amin Mattu, the media advisor to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
“What is the need to celebrate Tipu Jayanti? It has affected communal harmony in the state. Besides, youths affiliated to the RSS and Sangh Parivar are being killed mercilessly. We will register our protest,” BJP state general secretary Ravi Kumar said. The BJP has charged the state government with the killings.
In Bengaluru, BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa will lead the protest to be held in front of Gandhi statue, Maurya Circle. A party delegation will submit a memorandum to Governor Vajubhai Vala. Simultaneously, protests will be organised at all district headquarters on Tuesday, Kumar said.
The protesters will also seek the resignation of Urban Development Minister Roshan Baig. BJP MP and former minister Shobha Karandlaje had recently charged Baig with giving ‘supari’ to get RSS worker Rudresh killed. Ravi Kumar said the party leaders will meet later in the day to decide on the action they will take against the government.
Case filed The BJP Yuva Morcha on Tuesday filed a complaint against Mattu for a Facebook post in which he questions the Centre’s decision for a one-day ban on NDTV India. The complaint is about Mattu’s reply to a comment to his post. The comment states, “This is nothing compared to Indira Gandhi’s emergency. Have you forgotten what happened during the Emergency?” In response, Mattu states, “We all know what happened to Indira Gandhi at the end of Emergency, do you want that to happen to Modi too?”
Mattu has clarified that his statement has deliberately been misinterpreted. Despite that, the BJP went ahead with its complaint. BJP MLA B N Vijay Kumar, who was part of the delegation which filed this complaint, said Mattu’s post could provoke one community against another and incite riots.
The complaint states that a case should be booked under section 506 of the IPC (criminal intimidation) and Section 505 (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) and other sections.
