Mangalore: ‘Dirvem’ Konkani Weekly Presents 240th Wilfy Nite

Mangalore, Jan 9: In between the cut throat competition in Konkani journalism, ‘Dirvem,’ Konkani weekly, led by John A Monis has completed nearly 2 years. For the further growth of this journal, a musical concert has been organized in the city.
 
‘Dirven’ Konkani weekly, which has made its impact in Konkani journalism with it’s motto of information, awareness and entertainment, in a short span has plans to reach big number of Konkani readers in the coming days. Moreover, their determination to serve the economically deprived and under privileged community brethren besides journalism has inspired them to stage musical extravaganza.
 
Any journal in Konkani literature has to depend on advertisement income, for its success. But the advertisement resources are very limited in Konkani journalism, compared to other mainstream media. Hence, the organizers planned to raise funds through organizing ‘Wilfy Nite,’ which would be held on Sunday, January 13 at 6 p m, in the open grounds of St Aloysius College.

Wilfy Rebimbus is one of the topmost singers / composers in the Konkani musical world. This would be the 240th ‘Nite’ performed by him on that day. Many other leading singers also will be joining him to enthrall the audience. Hence, the fans of Wilfy and large number of Konkani music lovers are expected to attend the first musical concert of the year.
 
‘Padri,’ Konkani film fame Pappan-Joswin has composed music for this ‘Nite’ and MEMORI team will be entertaining the gathering with Dolla and Kulla, through their jokes. Leslie Rego of Bendur will be compering this programme.
 
The organizers informed that the tickets of show are available at about 30 places in and around Mangalore and city buses will be arranged within the city, after the show.

    Whoever wrote this: The expression 'cut throat competition in Konkani journalism' in the write up sounds ridiculous. Refrain from making general statements of this kind. The enthusiasm to appreciate one shouldn't end up in depreciating and condemning others. An infant though, konkani journalism is making great strides. Let live it. Don't target konkani journalism wholesale, for the mistakes of a few individuals, if at all.
