Mangaluru, Nov 9: Foundation stone laying ceremony for Shakthi Residential School and College by Shakthi Education Trust was held at Shakthinagar here on Wednesday, November 8.
Dr N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University and Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva's Education Institutions laid the foundation stone along with other dignitaries for the new school.
Addressing the gathering Dr Vinay Hegde said "I am happy to be part of this ceremony. I am person who wishes revolution in the field of education. I applaud K C Naik for his endeavour. He has seen many ups and downs in life but never gave up. He has taken up this new task of starting a school. There are about seven medical colleges and many educational institutions in the district. Still the number of students is increasing. Today the parents want high standards of education for their children. Thus I suggest Naik to choose the teachers with great responsibilities. The teacher should be able to give the students quality education and make them feel homely at the school. I wish all the success in this new venture."
Dr M Mohan Alva said "Today we observe two types of institutions, one is private and another is government. Many private institutions have contributed a lot for the development of the students by guiding them. This is a silent revolution we have observed. We have realised the importance of private concept.”
“Now as some institutions are trying to misuse the system, we need to be careful. The institutions should not get into money business. In addition to good education, building a good heart in a student is also important. There is need for such institutions. I congratulate K C Naik and wish him success."
MLC Ganesh Karnik also spoke at the occasion and congratulated the trustees of the institutions.
Managing trustee, Sanjith Naik welcomed the gathering while V K Talithaya presented the brief note on new institution’s vision.
Former minister, J Krishna Palemar, corporator Akhila Alva, managing trustee K C Naik and others were present.
