Mangaluru, Nov 11: Through an order issued on Thursday November 10, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Dr K G Jagadeesh, placed ban on the entry of international president of of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Pravinbhai Togadia, into Dakshina Kannada district.
This ban would be in force for a period of seven days commencing from November 11.
Togadia was scheduled to arrive in the district to take part in the valedictory ceremony on the occasion of diamond jubilee celebrations of the annual Bhajana Saptaha being organized at Kokkada village in the taluk on Friday November 11.
All preparations have been made at Sankranti Maidan, Kokkada, for the said programme. There were allegations that after the visit of Togadia to the district sometime back, law and order situation here had been vitiated. Reportedly, some unsavory incidents had occurred and a few cases were registered on that occasion.
Currently, prohibitory orders issued under section 144 are in force in the district. The district administration said it took this step as a preemptive measure against the possibility of the communal harmony prevailing in the district getting disturbed.
