Mangalore, Jan 9:
  Mandd Sobhann, the city's premier Konkani organization, in an all-out effort not to lag behind schedule, is leaving no stone unturned to make `Nirantari' a hugely successful venture. Their major objective is to take Konkani into the Guinness books of world records. 
 
Heads of various committees of 'Nirantari' which form the core of the working committee, met together on Tuesday January 8 at Kalangann. They explained the progress made in this regard to daijiworld, the official website sponsors for this international event, which is going to be publicized world-wide.
 
The head of the arrangement committee Roy Castelino gave minute details of the various arrangements made viz., the stage, security, cleanliness, decorations etc.   He informed that provisions is being made on stage, for the group of singers to stand in two separate places. 
 
On the stage one group is going to be active, while the other group will be ready waiting in the sidelines, so as not to give any break in between as per the Guiness record rules and guidelines. Once the first group completes, the next group standing in the side lines is going to take over from the previous group. 

  

  

  

Similar arrangement is being made in three separate places, for the orchestra conductors as well.  Almost 1500 singers from various parts of Karnataka, Goa, Mumbai and the U.A.E will be participating in this marathon singing event.
 
The attempt to break the Guinness world record is to be officially inaugurated in the early hours of January 26 in which the first group will commence its singing at 6 am.  Roy is to be assisted by Lawrence Pinto, Martin DSouza and Prakash  Lobo.
 
However, the major responsibility is definitely going to be on the shoulders of the lighting and sound committee head Kingsley Nazareth.  He is to be assisted in this endeavor by Anil Lobo, Rony and Ravi. 
 
The sound system is to be in two different places, one which is active and the other a stand-by for emergency purpose.  Arrangements for generators is also being made for stage and street from Castelino Colony to Kalaangann, a distance of 2 kms approximately. The entire stretch is to be decorated with lights and miniatures.
 
The medical committee is to be headed by Divya D'Souza in order to take care of any emergencies and provide first aid. There is to be a round-the-clock clinic and dispensary facility, consisting of full-time nurses and doctors.
 
The souvenir committee is to be headed by Ronnie Crasta. This committee is bringing out a booklet giving detailed information about the 'Nirantari,' Mandd Sobhann and names of all singers, committee members, sponsorers and a write-up on the Guinness records. 
 
There is a registration committee headed by Arun Ajekar and he is assisted by Irene, Anil and Joyce. Their job is to provide all information to participants to register names, to provide badges etc.
 
The publicity committee is headed by Titus Noronha. He is making arrangements for phone lines for the press, broadband internet connection, transportation for the press and advertisements, cut-outs, hoardings at various points in and around the city.
 
A press conference in this regard has been organized at the press club here on Tuesday January 15 and another press conference will be held at Hotel Taj Manjarun on Friday January 25 in the presence of Guiness adjudicators. 
 
The decoration committee is to be headed by Matilda Pinto and assisted by members of 'Kalakul' and 'Yuva Awaaz'. It is their responsibility to decorate the streets leading towards Kalangan from Kulshekar entrance  and the arrangements at the venue also.
 
Arrangement is also made for 250 'goodu deepas' with 'gumott' pictures which is the logo of Mandd Sobhann. Moreover the venue is going to be decorated with arecanuts, mango leaves, miniatures and buntings.
 
The public relations and reception committee is headed by Stany Alvares and assisted by Ronnie Gomes, Charles Sequeira and Deena Pereira.
 
The stage management responsibility is on the shoulders of Daya Victor Lobo and Neville Veigas. Joel Pereira is heading the music committee and the food and refreshments committee is headed by Navin Lobo.
 
There is to be food and refreshment counters installed at strategic spots at the venue for the public, who will be visiting the venue during the course of this 40 hour long sing-a-thon.
 
The practice committee is headed by Dimple Pinto, while the main coordinator for the event is Eric Ozario, the president of Konkani Sahitya Academy.
