Bantwal, Nov 12: Anxious atmosphere prevailed in Kalladka after a man under drunken stupor threw soda bottle on the afternoon of Friday, November 11.
As people flocked after the incident, Bantwal town station police rushed and controlled the situation after a light lathi charge. They took into custody a person named Sundar who threw the bottle. The bottle thrown by him had broken into pieces after falling on the road in front of a shop.
Security beefed up in Bantwal area
Heavy security arrangements have been made in Kalladka, Bantwal, B C Road and other sensitive places as a precaution to prevent untoward incidents. District superintendent of police (SP) Bhushan G Borase has camped in the place and is reviewing the situation.
Speaking to reporters Borase said that additional police personnel are deployed as a precaution considering murder attempt in Ullal and a murder in Mysuru jail. “People should not listen to unnecessary propaganda. They should maintain peace,” he said.
“The situation in Kalladka and Bantwal is peaceful. Activists of an organization visited me and submitted an appeal urging for judicial investigation into the murder of Kavoor resident Mustafa in Mysuru prison and a compensation of Rs 50 lacs for his family,” Borase said.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesh too visited Bantwal and obtained details of the incident from SP Bhushan G Borase who has been camping in the town police station. Tahasildar Purandara Hegde was present on the occasion.
