Mangaluru, Nov 13: "For condemning the increasing incidents of atrocities on Hindus in the state and to draw attention of the government, administration, and police department about attempts to silence Hindus through murder attempts and intimidating tactics, Hindu organizations will organize a mega protest meeting at Thokkottu Junction at 10 am on November 15," announced convener of Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike, M B Puranik.
Addressing a press conference held at the office of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) at Kadri on Saturday November 12, he clarified that the protest is against those who meddle with peace in the society and not against any specific caste or community. "Since sometime, there have been attacks and murder attempts on Hindus, and a sense of insecurity is bothering them. People are now afraid to go out at night on their own. The concerned should understand that patience cannot be stretched perennially," he said.
He said that by organizing this protest meeting, Hindu organizations want to give a clear signal to the government, officials and police department to sit up and notice the situation Hindus are facing. He added that a crowd of about 10,000 comprising people from twin-districts and Kasargod is expected at the meeting.
Former MLC, Monappa Bhandary, felt that some organizations have been behind the attacks on Hindus inclding innocent Kartikraj who died and Rammohan who survived. He wondered as to why police are not able to zero in on those who always are busy with disrupting peace in the society.
Bajrang Dal convener, Sharan Pumpwell, VHP district president, Jagadish Shenava, Hindu Jagran Vedike district president, Kishore Kumar, BJP district general secretary, Brijesh Chowta, Bajrang Dal district convener, Puneet, and Akhil Bharatiya Vodyarthi Parishad divisional convener, Sukhesh Bekal were present.
