Bangalore: Youth Rams Gowda's Car, Ends Life

Times News Network

Bangalore, Jan 10: Rebuked for having rammed his vehicle into former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s car in a freak accident, a terror-stricken youth committed suicide on Wednesday afternoon.

The 23-year-old youth was gripped by fear and desperation after his family members repeatedly scolded him for having invited trouble by hitting the car in which the JD(S) supremo was travelling. Identified as N Ramesh of Kadirenahalli, Banashankari II Stage, he hanged himself at his residence.

The drama unfolded around 10.30 am when Gowda was travelling in his car from his house in Padmanabhanagar to his other residence, ‘Amogh’, in the same locality. When Gowda’s car reached an intersection, a car driven by Ramesh came from the opposite direction and collided with it. The bumper of Gowda’s car was disjointed. Nobody was injured.

While Gowda sat in the car, his gunman Boregowda alighted from the vehicle and gave Ramesh a tongue-lashing for driving recklessly in a residential area. He was allowed to go after being warned. No police complaint was lodged.

Meanwhile, angry supporters of Gowda started searching for Ramesh and a friend of his who was in the car. One of Gowda’s right-hand men and his henchmen went to Ramesh’s house in Kadirenahalli and reportedly threatened him with dire consequences, besides asking him to pay Rs 25,000 for repair. This forced Ramesh’s family to panic. But they paid Rs 10,000 to the driver, Khan.

Ramesh’s brothers and sister scolded him for having invited trouble. “Do you know whose car you have damaged? Will Gowda’s men allow us to live in peace?’’ they said.

Following this, the brothers left the house. Dejected and fear-stricken, Ramesh locked himself inside a room and hanged himself around 3.30 pm.

"Do you know whose car you have damaged? Will Gowda’s men allow us to live in peace?" Is there anyone to explain what it means in a democratic country?

Very Sad News. Mr. Gowda would have forgiven him. We are all human beings. We have to respect humanity not the Position of a person. What matters even if he is a Prime Minister/Ex PM or President. Are they in the place of God? We common people elect them to become Supremo.
