Mangaluru, Nov 15: "The series of assault and stabbing incidents in Ullal is the fruit of BJP's and Sangh Parivar's agenda of dividing communities and creating conflicts between them," alleged Dinesh Gundurao, working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday November 15, he said, "The coastal region, especially Dakshina Kannada district has been a victim of Sangh Parivar's and BJP's hate politics. They polarize the youth on emotional grounds. Even the BJP is using emotional aspect of false nationalism to spread hatred. As a result there is animosity between communities.
"Hence, to make today's youth aware of the secular values this country has stood for, we are organising a mega convention of party workers and well-wishers as part of 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Indira Gandhi, and thereby sending out the message to society that the Congress will still bring all people together on the basis of secular principles.
"The government will take action against anyone who takes law into one's hands, even if the person is a BJP worker or Sangh Parivar activist or RSS activist. No one has rthe ight kill anyone and no one must be killed just because he belongs to a party or organization or community," he stressed.
Speaking about the Indira Gandhi birth centenary celebration he said, "The team led by Ramanath Rai is working well to organise the convention in the city. Party workers from Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Uttara Kannada districts will participate in the convention.
"Today's generation does not know about the leadership that Indira Gandhi gave to this country. Hence to make the youth aware of her service, we are organising this convention. The programmes will continue for a year starting from November 19 and will end on November 19, 2017. The programmes include workshops, seminars etc in colleges and schools.
Speaking about the effects of demonetisation, he said, "BJP is a party that supports black money. BJP people travel by flights sponsored by Adani who is one of the largest defaulters to the banks. Modi says that he has brought all the black money holders to the streets but none of the black money holders and big businessmen have been seen in queues. It is only the poor who are suffering.
"Who is responsible for the many deaths that have taken place due to the implementation of this move? Who is responsible for the loss of several lac crore across the country? Modi has to answer these questions.
"The nation is under autocratic rule. Modi does not trust even his own ministers. Except Modi there is no minister in the cabinet who is being highlighted," Rao charged.
Asked if Poojary would be given a chance to address the convention as he is one of Congress party's seniormost leaders and was among the ministers in Indira Gandhi's cabinet, he said that it would be 'decided later'.
District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, chief whip of legislative council Ivan D'Souza, district Congress interim president Ibrahim Kodijal and others were present.

Udupi, Nov 15: "Action will be taken against Tanveer Sait if he purposely watched porn during Tipu Jayanti celebrations. Going through messages on mobile phone during programmes is not wrong," said KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress office here on Tuesday November 15, he said, "Tanveer Sait said that he was not watching the movie on purpose. Nevertheless, the incident has been investigated by the cyber cell. Earlier, BJP ministers had purposely watched blue films for fifteen minutes in the Assembly. Therefore there is a difference between the two incidents. It is normal for me and everyone else to check my phone while on the dais to obtain information. It is not a mistake," he clarified.
Commenting on the extravagant wedding of Janardhana Reddy’s daughter, he said that spending lavishly is a personal choice. "It is not illegal for invited guests to attend the wedding. A lavish wedding is not fair on moral grounds while there is a situation of drought. The ordinance to restrict such weddings is with the government, but there is opposition to it. Therefore we will wait and watch," he said.
Moving on to other issues, he said, "Election for district Congress president is necessary. It will be held before December. Ban on currency notes has caused financial hardships. It has hit business and denied work for daily wagers causing several problems. Those who have black money are in peace but ordinary citizens are in trouble. Prime Minister Modi had spent the highest amount during elections. We should find out from where he got that money."
