Mangalore: Tulu Sahitya Academy Announces Awards of Honour and Book Prizes

Mangalore, Jan 12: The Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy has announced its awards of honour for 2007 and book prizes for 2006.


Shimunje Parari, B N Rao Boloor and Sannakka Banglegudde

Shimunje Parari (Tulu literature), B N Rao Boloor (Tulu theatre and films) and Sannakka Banglegudde (Tulu folklore) have been nominated for the prestigious awards of honour.

Each award carries a cash purse of Rs 10,000, memento and a citation.


Kadri Navaneet Shetty and Navin Kumar Marike

The prizes for books published in 2006 have been won by 'Maime', a play by Kadri Navaneet Shetty and research-based 'Kattalininda' (From Darkness) by Navin Kumar Marike.

Either prize incorporates a purse of Rs 5,000 and a citation.

The awards and prizes are scheduled to be presented a ceremony to be held in Mysore in February 2008.

The selections were made based on the recommendations of a panel of jury consisting of reputable scholars, Dr K Chinnappa Gowda, Dr Na Damodar Shetty and Dr Vamana Nandavara.
