Muhurat of ‘Matharo Charbela’ held in Dubai

Dubai, Jan 12: ‘Daiji Rang Mandir’ – the Center for Performing Arts and a cultural wing of Daiji Dubai held the muhurat of ‘Matharo Charbela’ today evening at Sivestar Bhavan in Karama, Dubai.

Mrs. Louisa Fernandes, wife of ‘Comedy King’ Francis Fernandes Cascia, the playwright presided over the brief but meaningful ceremony. It commenced with the prayer by Rajesh D’Souza who invoked blessings from St. Rita, the patron saint of Francis Cascia.  

Dayan D’Souza, Convenor of Daiji Rang Mandir welcomed the guests consisting Daiji sponsors and well wishers. In his inimitable style he described the struggle and crusade of Francis Fernandes Cascia  on ‘konkani stage’ as an artiste, a playwright, a director and at times a producer himself so as to maintain momentum both in India and in the Gulf over the past 40 years. He narrated Francis’ unique personality filled with fun, frolic and indomitable enthusiasm. 

Joseph Mathias of Merit Freight Systems and the main sponsor and Michael D’Souza of Oasis Court Hotel Apartment and the associate sponsor handed over the original scripts to Hemacharya, the director of the drama and Francis Fernandes, Cascia, who will enact the main role. Hemacharya introduced each role in the drama and artistes enacting specific roles. Mark Denis D’Souza of Fortuna Engineering and a prominent person behind the formation of Daiji Forum, Frank Fernandes of Mosaco Shipping, Herman Lewis of V3 Media, Manohar Pais, a well known Konkani stage personality, the presidents and office bearers of other prominent associations in the U.A.E. were also present.

‘Matharo Charbela’ a fun filled comedy play will be staged during Daiji Anniversary at the Shaikh Rashid Auditorium, Dubai, Friday 28 March 2008. The programme will be presented by Ramani Events Entertainment, a well known event management company which has quite many quality entertainment programmes to its credit.  

“We expect a houseful crowd and the tickets to get sold two weeks prior to the show” – observed an optimistic Linus Moras the main administrator of drama segment. Noel Almeida takes charge of technical team comprising stage, sound and lighting arrangement.
