Israel: Konkan Catholic Association Inaugurated

Mangalore, Jan 12: Konkan Catholic Association, the association of Konkani speaking Mangaloreans at Israel was inaugurated recently at Tel Aviv city recently.

Earlier Fr Cyril D’Souza, parish priest of Bandra, Fr Cletan of Goa, Fr Paul of Shirva and Fr Jayasheela, assistant parish priest of Yaffo parish, celebrated holy Eucharistic.


Later a stage programme was held during which the association was inaugurated. Meanwhile, Christmas, New Year and Tel Aviv vado feast was also observed by the association. Fr Cyril D’Souza presided over the function. Sr Celine D’Silva of Mumbai, Fr Cletan from Goa and Fr Paul of Shirva were the chief guests of the occasion.

Stephen D’Mello Pambur, president of the association and organizer Melwyn Furtado were present on this occasion. Meanwhile, the oath-taking ceremony was held.

Vado secretary Roshan Monteiro Omzoor presented the report and Praveen Lobo Omzoor informed the gathering about the Vado.

Various cultural programmes were held after the stage programme. More than 400 were people present on this occasion. ‘Kuswar’ was distributed to the gathering as a symbol of Christmas.

Jeevan D’Souza Kulshekhar welcomed the gathering. Praveen Pereira proposed vote of thanks. Jyothi Lasrado Derebail compered the programme.
