M'lore: Mechanized Fisheries Boat Capsizes ; Fishermen Rescued

Mangalore, Jan 13: ‘Al – Sameel’, a mechanized fishing boat, belonged to UM Rivas, resident of Kotepur, was capsized in the sea at Halebagilu, near Kotepur, lies at the outskirts of the city during the wee hours of Sunday, January 13, stated the report lodged with Ullal police.


The incident occurred when the mechanized boat rammed another fishing boat which was anchored in the Arabian sea, off Kotepur. The darkness might have blinded the fishermen from navigating the mechanized boat in a safer direction, stated the sources. 
 
The fishermen of ill-fated mechanized boat were set off on sail as usual when it accidentally hit another boat which was anchored in the vicinity.  The total loss owing to the sinking of mechanized boat was estimated to be around Rs 4 lacs. Moreover, no loss of lives or injury to the crew has been reported.  The fishermen managed to reach the safety by swimming to the shore where they were assisted by fellow fishermen, the sources confirmed.
