Bangalore, Jan 15: Tim Supple's Midsummer Night's Dream play was staged at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall here in front of a jam-packed audience. The extraordinary background, music and lighting enhanced the effects of the drama which is based on a love story.
Speak about the play exclusivelly with Daijiworld camera man Akash Poojari, director of the play Tim Supple said that the play has been in the making for two years. The play which was commissioned by the British Council has an Indian and Sri Lankan cast.
The play, after doing a tour of the UK is now back on homeground, this time in the Garden City. The play dazzled the city’s audience with a power-packed performance by the actors, amazing sets and good direction.
Supple was asked by the British Council to take on a production with Indian actors and his first visit to India was in 2005 when he came to meet and audition the cast. He loved the energy of the different aspects of Indian theatre and the multi-lingual cast, Supple said.
The play is being staged in eight different languages – English, Tamil, Malayalam, Sinhalese, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, and a bit of Sanskrit. It’s the multi-lingualism that makes it special and which has helped us communicate with the people. That is what makes this production different from the other renditions of Midsummer Night’s Dream, Supple said.
