Sharjah: Fun, Frolic Mark BCF Annual Sports Day

Sharjah, Jan 15: Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) celebrated its annual sports day and 'Fun Fare 2007-2008' at the Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club here.
On this fun-filled occasion, bearys from different parts of UAE assembled here and participated whole-heartedly in large numbers in a spirit of community development.

All the above guests were felicitated by the BCF. They were offered buffet dinner at the Sheetal Samudra Restaurant in Dubai.
Various sports events were conducted in which young and old alike took part with gusto and a spirit of fun and frolic. It seemed as if they had left behind the tensions of life and work, at least for that moment of time.
There were lots of games like volleyball, cricket, tug of war, kabbadi, balloon race, relay, musical chairs etc. Many teams participated in these games and played in the true sportsman spirit.
Cricket trophy was won by Crescent Overseas Forum, Mulky. Eagle Kanangar once again won the volleyball tournament. Kabbadi match was an exciting one, won by Sajpa friends and the tug of war was won by the Karnataka Islamic Knowledge Bureau (KIKB).
The special attraction of the day was the cookery competition, which had a variety of mouth-watering traditional Beary dishes and along with that had a more entertaining game in the form of fruits eating competition for ladies and karela eating competition for gents. It was indeed a fun-filled event for the children and the adults alike and everyone enjoyed from the start till the end.
The BCF Sports Day was open for all the Bearys in the UAE. A special raffle draw was initiated for all the members of the BCF. The special prize for the raffle comprised two Tissot watches, sponsored by Oriental Stores LLC specifically meant for the BCF members. A special offer was given by Dr BK Yusuf, president for all the Bearys to renew their membership and to enroll as a new member by remitting a concessional membership fees.

Canteen facilities were provided with relishing Beary food during the sports day. The sports ground was equipped with all the necessary facilities such as flood lights, play areas, seating arrangements, toilets etc.
There was a short musical concert by Karavali Music. The songs by Jyoti (Na koi umang hai…...), Haneef Perliya (basti basti parbat parbat…) and MB Akbar (chu kar mere man ko…) were wonderful and the audience gave a big round of applause.
The audience and guests of honor donated more than Dhs 3000/- towards the operation cost for one of the beary child. ME Moolur announced the released of the book on 'History of Beary' written by Dr Wahab. He stated that the book is available for purchase at a cost of Dhs 40/- per book.
Arshad Hussain from GulfKannadigas.com was also present during the BCF’s sports day to cover the event.
BCF thanked the event chairperson Shahda, vice-chairperson KM Ashraf, and other members such as Ashraf Shaikh, Iqbal (MEPHA), Razak, Amir, Laitf Mulky, Samer KS, Haneef Perliya, Mumtaz, Zeenat Ashraf, Aisha Azeez, Aifa , Ibrahim Mulky, Monnakka, Ibrahim from Dubai, Afeeq, Toufiq, Abdul Rehman, ME Moolur, etc for their dedication and hard work towards the success of the event. The BCF also thanked all the referees for various competitions for taking their time and attending the event.
Dr BK Yusuf presented a momento to Mottamma, ex-minister and Rani Venkatesh, MLA as a mark of respect, felicitation and commemoration for their work done for the development of the bearys. All other guests were felicitated with bouquets as a mark of respect for attending this event.
The lunch was sponsored by Dr BK Yusuf. More than 375 bearys attended the sports day. Hajee K Mohammed, president of Halyingadi Jamat also attended this event.
Dr BK Yusuf, president, BCF and Dr Kaup Mohammed, general secretary, BCF were felicitated by the BCF’s Sharjah Unit during the sports day. Razak announced the list of winners and ME Moolur proposed the vote of thanks to all the guests and bearys.
One major thing that made the event even more wonderful and exciting was the weather which was very pleasant.
