Bangalore: John D’Silva, Albert D’Souza & Allan Pereira Bag FKCA Award

Bangalore, Jan 16: The prestigious annual awards of the Federation of Konkani Catholics of Karnataka (FKCA) will be conferred on three eminent Konkani Catholics, who have made a mark in the social, business and public life, informed a press release issued by Charles Gomes, general secretary FKCA, Bangalore. It is to be noted that the FKCA was basically set up to further the cause of Konkani Catholics as well as other Christian and linguistic/religious minorities, and it will be completing its tenth year of service, this year.
This year the award will be presented to John D'Silva, Albert D'Souza and Allan Pereira. While John D'Silva, is a leading cooperative banker and social worker who will be conferred the 'Life-Time Achievement Award', Albert D'Souza is the managing director of Printania Offset Pvt Ltd, to be conferred with the 'Entrepreneur of the Year Award' and Allan Pereira, the executive director of Oriental Bank of Commerce and he is to be conferred with the 'Professional Excellence Award'.
The awards are to be presented at FKCA's annual 'Federation Day' celebrations to be held at the St Joseph's Indian high school grounds, opposite Kanteerava stadium, here on Sunday January 27 by the Karnataka legislative council chairman Prof B K Chandrashekar. Former deputy chief minister M P Prakash will be the chief guest. Archbishop Bernard Moras will preside over the function. The Archbishop will also be offering a Konkani mass, which precedes the function.

John D'Silva: Chosen for 'Life-Time Achievement Award', John D'Silva has been closely associated with the cooperative movement for more than three decades. Originally hailing from a small hamlet in Karkala taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, he has made his mark in the cooperative sector in Mumbai and Maharashtra. A self-made man, who came up the hard way he was the chief promoter and first managing director of Abhyudaya Cooperative Bank Ltd. He is instrumental in starting many educational institutions and is also actively involved in several social service activities.
Albert Wilfred D'Souza: Chosen for the 'Entrepreneur of the Year Award,' A W D'Souza's company the Printania Offset Pvt Ltd is one of leading printing houses in the country, with several initiatives undertaken in printing technology. He has also been closely associated with several educational, cooperative and social service activities in Maharashtra, occupying major posts in various bodies, one of which includes him as chairman of Model Cooperative Bank Ltd and vice-chairman of Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI). He is also the advisory board member of the Holy Family hospital, Mumbai.
Allan C Pereira: Chosen for the 'Professional Excellence Award', A C Pereira is currently serving as the executive director of Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) having a total business of over Rs 116,000 crore and thousands of computerized branches across the country. The Government of India in fact empanelled him for appointment as chairman and managing director of a public sector bank. Born in Mangalore city, he began his career with Syndicate bank as a specialist officer (Personnel) in 1973 and making quick strides reached the position of general manager of Syndicate Bank in the year 2002. He has also served as personnel adviser in the Indian Banks' Association at Mumbai which comprises over 170 public and private sector and foreign banks in India.
