Bengaluru: HC suggests Mythriya, Karthik Gowda to strike compromise

Bengaluru, Nov 29: The state high court, where a case of rape and cheating after promising of marriage filed by actress, Mythriya Gowda against Karthik Gowda, son of union minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, is pending, suggested to Karthik on Monday November 28 to try for an out of the court settlement with the petitioner.

A single judge bench of the high court presided over by Justice Anand Byrareddy, which was examining an application filed by Karthik Gowda seeking to quash the case of cheating and rape filed Mythriya Gowda against him, came up with this suggestion.

"Petitioner in the case, Karthik Gowda, has already married. The case stated above can repeatedly make him and his family to face awkward situations. Complainant, Mythriya Gowda, too seeks to be happy in life. Karthik also seeks peace of mind. Money and assets cannot bring contentment and peace. Therefore, I suggest to both of you to strike a comprise through out-of-court settlement and be happy," he suggested.

The court observed that Karthik Gowda belongs to a family of politicians. "General election in 2018 is fast approaching, and if the case is allowed to be continued, his family will face embarrassment. How long do you want to face this situation. Therefore, you may settle the issue through mutual discussions. You know how to strike a compromise," presiding officer of the bench said articulately.

The presiding officer of the bench came out with just a suggestion without bringing any pressure on the parties concerned. Advocate for Karthik Gowda, in response, said that his client will need some time to decide about the compromise as suggested. The judge upheld his request and asked him to come up with his opinion on this suggestion during the next hearing.
