Mangalore, Jan 16: Navollasa 2008, a cultural talent competition was organized by Yuvavahini at Vidyadayini Kala Mandira at Suratkal near here recently.
Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates distributed medical aid to the needy poor patients on this occasion. Addressing the gathering president of Billawas Dubai Umesh Kuckian said Billawas Dubai is committed to helping the poor students by providing scholarships for the poor students. Last year a programme was organized at Shri Gokarnanatha Temple and Rs 3 lac was distributed to the poor students in the presence of Janardhan Poojary (MP) and Jaya C Suvarna.
President Umesh Kuckian, media coordinator Sujay Bendoor and Prasanna Umesh were present on the occation.
Kuckian expressed his happiness towards Yuvavahini for identifying the poor students for scholarships by giving personal visits to students’ houses for studying their family background and financial conditions.
The beneficiaries of the medical aid in the function were: Rs. 25,000 was given to Bhavani, whose son was severely injured in aroad accident while Rs 20,000 was given to Ramesh Poojary for his son’s medical treatment. One more patient Varun’s father Jeevandas received Rs 15,000 for his son’s cancer treatment. A totally blind young girl Ramakku was provided with Rs.15, 000 financial assistance for her further treatment.
Yogish Kotian of Yuvavahini Suratkal chapter gave the brief account of the Billavas Dubai in the beginning. Gangadhar K, convenor of ‘Navollasa 2008’ rendered vote of thanks. President of central council Raviraj and president of Suratkal chapter Jayanth were also present on the occasion.
‘Earlier Navollasa – 08 was inaugurated by Sudarshan H, president of Kadekar Billava Sangha, Udupi. A total of 10 Chapters of Yuvavahini participated in the competition. Each team was given 20 minutes’ time and during these 20 minutes Chapters had to showcase their talents on the stage. Variety of events, entertainment programmes were presented on the stage and it was really very difficulty to judge the winners. This function provided chance to members of yuvavahini to show their hidden talents on the stage.
During the valedictory Raviraj Kumar, president of Yuvavahini central council, Chandrashekar Nanil, president of Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti, Haleangadi and Shekar Amin Jokatte, PWD contractor were the chief guests. On the occasion the new committee for Yuvavahini®, Suratkal chapter for the year 2008 took oath. Seetharam H was elected as new president of Yuvavahini ®, Suratkal Chapter.
Yuvavahini ®, Mulki chapter secured first place whereas second prize was won by Yuvavahini®, Mangalore women’s chapter. The third prize won by Yuvavahini®, Sasihithlu chapter.
