Mangalore: DH Senior Correspondent Ronald A Fernandes awarded PhD

Mangalore, Jan 16: Deccan Herald senior correspondent Ronald Anil Fernandes has been awarded the Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) by Mangalore University for his thesis on ‘Children as Determinants of Television Programmes: A Case Study in Dakshina Kannada District.’

The thesis was completed under the guidance of Prof K V Nagaraj of Mass Communication and Journalism Department at Mangalore University, Mangala Gangotri.

Fernandes started his career as a journalism lecturer at St Aloysius College. Later, he worked for Udaya TV as a reporter in Chennai before joining Deccan Herald in Bangalore in 1997. At present he is heading the Mangalore bureau of Deccan Herald the past 4 years.
