Bangalore, Jan 17: Former union minister and convener of NDA George Fernandes was felicitated by George Abhinandan Committee, Karnataka, in the state capital here Thursday January 17, at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan, located at Vasant Nagar.
Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibetans inaugurated the felicitation programme. Sharad Yadav, ex-union minister and former MP, presided over the programme.
LK Advani, former deputy prime minister, Charanjit Singh Athwal, deputy speaker of Lok Sabha, Krishna, speaker of Karnataka legislative assembly, Harin Pathak, B Somashekar, former ministers, Thampan Thomas, president of Hind Mazdoor Sabha, Clarence Pais, eminent lawyer and notary from Mangalore, spoke on their association with George Fernandes.
Fr Francis Serrao SJ, rector of St Aloysius College Institutions, Mangalore and Prof B Sheikh Ali, former vice-chancellor of Goa University delivered spiritual message.
MP Prakash, former deputy chief minister welcomed the gathering. MN Venkatachalaiah, former Chief Justice of India and chairman of George Abhinandan Committee, delivered the keynote address. The students of Vani High School performed welcomed dance.
