Mangaluru, Dec 2: The state government, through an order dated Thursday December 1, appointed senior Congress leader, Suresh Ballal, as the chairman of Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The official order was delivered to Ballal on Friday December 2, it is gathered.
Ballal is expected to take charge of the authority on Monday next. Ballal has the experience of having functioned as MUDA chairman for a term in the past.
There was keen tussle for the post, with Congress general secretary, Santosh Kumar Shetty, and vice president, Sadashiva Ullal, keen on bagging this post. There were also rumours that Kodijal Ibrahim, who recently completed his term, will be reappointed to the post.
There was expectation that Ballal would be made chairman of some corporation or board. A number of Congress leaders who had recently met Karnataka Pradesh Congress president and working president, had strongly put forth before them a demand go give some prominent post to Suresh Ballal.
