Bengaluru,Dec 10: JD(S), which had sometime back set into motion its efforts to strengthen the party base in north Karnataka and its state president, H D Kumaraswamy, shifted his residence to Hubballi in an effort to make this happen, the party gave the post of working president to veteran party leader from north Karnataka, Basavaraj Horatti, who also happens to be a powerful Lingayat leader.

Horatti has thereby been given a post that is next in importance to that of Kumaraswamy. Horatti also has been given place in the core committee of the party.
B M Farooq has been made the chief general secretary of the party. MLA, B B Ningaiah, has been made the senior vice president of the party.
H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy continue to be national president and state president respectively.
