Mangalore, Jan 22: Eight persons were injured as the communally sensitive township of Ullal once again erupted in violence here in the late hours of Monday night of January 21. As a result several buses and rick shaws have been reportedly damaged owing to stone pelting by miscreants.

A small clash had occurred here a few days ago in the course of a local school's anniversary celebration. This incident is understood to have slowly snowballed into a clash between two opposite parties, finally resulting in the communal clash, sources here informed.

As an echo to this incident, a group of miscreants had attacked one Hameed, a bus conductor by profession on Monday January 21 afternoon. The cleaner of the same bus had been involved in unruly behaviour of throwing  chairs during the ruckus at the school anniversary celebration.

In retaliation for this earlier incident Hameed was attacked. This despite the fact that earlier on the police had taken immediate action against the bus cleaner for his unruly behaviour.

Similarly during this period a group also attacked one youth who was on his way  to do some fishing on Monday January 21 at around 9.30 pm. Ired by this in retaliation another gang of about 25 persons attacked buses, jeeps, rick shaws and cars at Mogaveerapatna.

These incidents of clashes in different pockets of the small township has presently created a tense situation in Ullal.
Western range IGP A M Prasad, SP Satheesh Kumar and other senior police officers in order to defuse the same immediately rushed to the spot and to a large extent did succeed in controlling the situation.

Further sources here inform that additional forces have been deployed at Ullal and situation though fluid is under control so far. Police have taken into custody several persons with regard to the attack on the bus conductor Hammed.

We should spread the meassage around "Peace is prosperity and hatred is destruction".  How shameful we are, killing innocent people in the name of religion. We shall not let Karnataka to be the Gujarat of south. Those who try to do it, shall not succeed. Peace is love. Love thy neighbour.

I gues this is a direct continuation of recent events in BC Road, Maloor, Mangalore and other places. It was our own MP who said his party would contest the elections on the 'Gujarat model' ? Incidentally, a BJP leader was caught red handed in the Maloor desecration case and the recent events in BC Road, the ex minister Mr Nagaraj Shetty was asked by the administration (rather mildly of course) not to create problems. Now that this is the state of our politicians, it is the duty of citizens to ensure that we maintain peace at all costs. Any other alternative would spell disaster.

All of us should remember that our so called political leaders are using us a tool for their political gain. Communal differences are their creations and it is nothing to do with our neighbhours belonging to other religion sect or groups. Let us WAKE UP and defeat their ambitions by staying united as Indians and only Indians.

We appreciate "Gandhigiri" films like Munna Bhai MBBS etc. but when it comes to practical life we become fanatic. Why can't we follow it in real terms. Mangaloreans are known for brotherly feelings towards each other in gulf countries irrespective of caste & creed. Let us follow it in this hour too.

How shameful it is these communal clashes! Well everybody is aware of such things, which society deems as WRONG, but still these trouble makers dont hang their heads in shame. All in the name of religion. The more the country develops the more we hear about these kind of situations.

Well who is the MOB, and who controls them. We are all responsible for these happennings. When someone has wronged, we should bring about justice at once but taking the person to the law even though he belongs to our own community.

There is no shame. How can the locals allow such shameful things to happen in such trivial matter. Any problem needs to be solved then and there and not taken beyond the point of happenning, so that the whole neighbourhood, our hole district or whole state will suffer. People need to realise and grow up. When will the time come for realisation. At least its better late than never! In such hope we shall all live and die!

Un believable, Yes i agree with Ramnath, before 1992, we lived peacefully, I had plenty of my freinds and had a nice time in my locality, but now, my brothers, are not having much friends, and their group is totally afraid to make other community freinds. This is all part of preparation for politically motivated hatredness created by few terrorist outfit of hardline association of political wing, which wants to spread hatred among people, which will end up with creating unhealthy society and you canot see peace in near future.

I  totally agree with Mr. Ramnath Kamath, as Ramnat Kamath thinks that how difficult life is being far from the country, this kind of anty socialism only can be done by the jobless people used by the politicians who play drama of communalism with the innocent people for their vote bank. My kind appeal to the people of mangalore please keep peace and harmony in the region as we are living before 1992.
