Bangalore, Jan 23: Do not get lured by a woman standing in front of your car, asking you for a lift.

You may end up pledging your valuables to a gang of robbers. The City Police recently arrested members of a gang of robbers and prostitutes.

Police bumped into a robber-prostitutes network while investigating a case involving a senior police official’s son, who fell prey to the gang of robbers who used a woman to stop him.

A senior police official told this website's newspaper that the incident occurred two weeks ago, when an ACP’s son who was driving on Airport Road along with his friend, claimed to have stopped his vehicle for a woman at 11.30 pm.

According to the police, the ACP’s son, who is working abroad had come down to the city on vacation.

“He picked the woman and as he drove for about two kilometres, two people in an autorickshaw blocked the car. They forced themselves into the car, threatened the two men and robbed them of their wallets containing credit and debit cards, two gold chains and Rs 5,000 in cash,” said the senior police official.

They then abandoned him and drove away with the car. A complaint was lodged in Ashoknagar police station.

“While investigating the case, we bumped into a network of robbers, who turned out to be prostitutes, eunuchs and men who accompany them to rob people. Such cases have been reported earlier, but, it is a huge network and we caution people not to offer lifts or even accept services from prostitutes in deserted areas,” said the senior police official.

Police say most people are reluctant to lodge complaints for obvious reasons. “People who fall prey to these rackets should not hesitate to lodge complaints,” said the senior police official.
