Udupi: Bus-ambulance collision on Heroor bridge results in traffic jam

Udupi, Dec 19: A bus and an ambulance collided head-on on Heroor Bridge near Brahmavar on Monday, December 18. The driver got trapped inside the ambulance as a result of the accident.

The accident resulted in a big traffic jam extending from Santhekatte to Brahmavar.

The private bus travelling from Brahmavar to Udupi and the ambulance moving from Udupi to Brahmavar collided with each other on the bridge.

As the repair work is carried out on the old bridge, two-way traffic has been allowed on this bridge, which is the reason for the accident, it is gathered.

After an effort that last almost 45 minutes, the locals were able to rescue the trapped driver and take him to hospital. 

The ambulance driver was returning to Brahmavar after dropping a patient at Manipal hospital when the accident took place.

    A bill need to be passed in whoever get's involved in an accident. Licenses of Such bus companies need to be revoked and should be penalized. Ambulance need to given priority on the roads, not the bus or other vehicles.
