Abu Dhabi: Karnataka Sangha Wins Koosamama Shetty Throwball Tourney

Abu Dhabi - Jan 25: Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha won the prestigious  Koosamama Shambu Shetty Memorial  cup in the thrilling Ladies Throw Ball tournament held at the Abu Dhabi Indian School Grounds on Friday January 25, 2008.







The exciting finals between Jeshan of Dubai and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha witnessed some anxious moments and kept the spectators as well as the players on their toes, ultimately Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha managed to win the coveted trophy.
 
The annual Koosamama Shambu Shetty Memorial Ladies Throw Ball Tournament, which is held in memory of  Dr. B. R. Shetty of NMC Group's mother, attracted 10 top teams from the UAE including the KCWA team from Kuwait, which participated for the first time.
 
The participating teams included, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Bunts Dubai, Bunts, Abu Dhabi, K.C.O. Abu Dhabi, Jashan Dubai, Mangalore Konkans Dubai, Konkans Dubai, Kudla friends, KCWA - Kuwait, ADIS 1- Abu Dhabi, ADIS-2 Abu Dhabi.
 
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr.B.R.Shetty & Dr.(Mrs)Chandrakumari BR Shetty, who declared the tournament open by participating in the traditional match.






The inaugural match was held between Bunts Dubai and Bunts Abu Dhabi and Bunts Dubai won this tournament, winning Koosamma Shambu Shetty Memorial Trophy
 
In the second open to all tournament 10 teams participated and the spectators enjoyed the thrilling finishes  and excellent play by all the participating teams.
 
In the semi finals Jashan of Dubai defeated Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO), Abu Dhabi in a close finish and Karnataka Sangha won over Bunts Dubai.
 
The event was professionally organized by Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha.  The ever popular Sarvotam Shetty was the man behind the success of this tournament who with the help of his enthusiastic committee members had put in tremendous efforts in organizing this excellent event.






 
Since 1990, this tournament has attracted several teams from the UAE as well as from other gulf countries and people look forward to witness this tournament always during this time of the year.
 
Kudos to the organizers in organizing such a wonderful tournament, which held efficiently and professionally.

(1) Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha beats Bunts Dubai by 21 - 9 points (1 set)
(2) Jashan Dubai beats KCO Abu Dhabi by 21 - 19 points (1 set)

FINAL

Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha beats Jashan Dubai by
Ist Set 21 - 13 points
3rd Set 21 - 18 points

BEST STRIKER - Mrs.Srimathi of Jashan Dubai
BEST SERVICE - Mrs.Divya Dinesh Prabhu of Abu dhabi Karnataka Sangha
BEST DEFENCE - Mrs.Sneha Poojary of Jashan Dubai
BEST ALROUNDER - Mrs.Sneha Praveen Kumar of Abu Dhabi Karnatka Sangha

    I was waiting to see the results and what ever little I saw of the match was worth it. Heartiest congratulations to Abudhabi Karnataka Sangha for this historical victory one can say..the win was elusive and when the win came ,it came with a roar and a bang.well done everybody associated with the match and the entire function.3 cheers to ADKS.HIP HIP HURRAY HIP HIP HURRAY HIP HIP HURRAY.
