The Shaktinagar group has taken over the SRA Sisters troupe. In a systematic manner and with absolutely no space for confusion, the group was seen silently taking the position on the second stage.

At 6.55 am the new group took over. What we see today here at Kalangann is a well planned event and each element following another smoothly.

Update at  6.30 am

The first 30 minutes have just commenced and the air at Kalangann has been charged up with the commencement of the world record attempt. The SRA sister’s troupe sings hymns and the crowd too gently joined as they sand the most popular traditional hymn “Somyak Dhinvasumya” (O give thanks to the Lord).

The SRA sisters team was led by Sr Juliet Lobo and music directed by Sr Ancilla D’Mello

The 35- member team consisted Sr Shanthilatha Lobo, Sr Hildegard Fernandes, Sr Laura Rodrigues, Sr Pavithra John, Sr Clarine D’Souza, Sr Daphney D’Souza, Sr Juliet Lobo, Sr Ancilla D’Mello, Sr Precilla Fernandes, Sr Anisha Fernandes, Sr Reena Monteiro, Sr Reshma D’Souza, Sr Charlat Priyadharshini, Sr Shoba D’Souza, Sr Savitha Moras, Sr Roshni Almeida, Sr Supriya D’Souza, Sr Sujatha Lobo, Sr Dharshana Walter Mallya, Sr Prashanthi Monis, Sr Jyothika Joseph, Sr Jovita Rodrigues, Sr Flavia D’Souza, Sr Magdeline Fernandes, Sr Lavita Crasta, Sr Shanti Crasta, Sr Diana David, Sr Patelia Bhavana Shantilal, Sr S Monica, Sr Nirmala Fernandes, Sr Reshma Crasta, Sr Shamitha Cardoza, Sr Benedicta Renita Crasta, Sr Joyline D’Souza.

Update at  6.00am

Mangalore, Jan 26: Konkani Nirantari is finally at hand. With blessing from Bishop of Mangalore Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza and the cheers from the crowd, the record breaking attempt started on the dot at 5.55. A brief inaugural ceremony was held in which the Bishop poured frankincense on coal thus symbolizing the spreading of Konkani fragrance globally.

 

Keith Pullin, chief adjudicator of Guinness World Records was present on the spot.

At exactly 6 am, the singing marathon will begin. Team Daijiworld will provide hourly updates with pics from the spot.

It was a spectacular moment, when the crowd joined Keith Pullin, the chief adjudicator of Guinness World Records, in voicing out an excitement filled countdown to the singing. The SRA Sisters group began the proceedings with zest as the entire gathering was filled with excitement.
