Bengaluru, Dec 27: People of rural areas and small towns, who have built unauthorised houses on government lands, have been offered a major relief with the State Government deciding to reduce the fee for regularisation of the unauthorised houses by upto 50%.
The State Government has already extended the December 20 deadline for submitting the applications for regularisation by one month.
Responding favourably to the demand of the rural populace, the Siddaramaiah cabinet on Tuesday decided to effect a big reduction in regularisation(popularly called (Akrama-Sakrama) fee, which is up to 50% in most categories.
In rural areas the fee for regularisation of constructions on sites of dimension 30 X 40ft has been reduced to Rs 1000 from the earlier Rs 2000 while the fee for construction in a 40 X 60ft site is Rs 2000(earlier fixed at Rs 4000) and for construction on 50 X 80ftsite has been fixed at Rs 3000(earlier Rs 8000).
The fee for regularisation houses in urban areas(small towns other than City Corporations) has been confined to plots of dimension 20 X 30ft for which fee has been fixed at Rs 5000, instead of Rs 10,000 fixed earlier.
The fee for SC/T and the disabled families has been fixed at Rs 2500, Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister TB Jayachandra said briefing the reporters about cabinet decisions.
About 20 lakh people have already applied for regularisation and in all over 40 lakh families are expected to benefit from the state government's gesture.
The State Cabinet also decided to rush the aid of Tur farmers in a big way by setting up a chain of purchase centres Kalaburgi, Raichur and Yadagiri districts to buy Tur dal at a minimum support price of Rs 5050 per quintal fixed by the Union government.
The purchase centres would be set-up in association with National Agricultural Commodities Federation and Food Corporation of India.
The move comes in the wake of crash in prices of Tur dal following a bumper crop and poor purchase from private buyers due to the impact of demonetisation. State government has also decided to distribute Tur dal at 30% subsidised price through its Public Distribution System.
The other important decisions of the State Cabinet are:
* Grant of 2 acres of land at Bangarpet in Kolar district for setting up KGF Power loom Park.
* Grant of 7.4 acres of land in Shivamogga for setting up KSRTC Workshop.
* Grant of Rs 415 crore for Tungabhadra drinking water project for parts of Davangere, Chitradurga and Shivamogga district by filling 121 tanks.
* Approval for drawing 0.812 TMC of water from Supa dam to meet the drinking water needs of Haliyal in Uttara Kannada district.
