Mangalore, Jan 29: Renowned Tulu dramatist Madhav K Shaktinagar passed away at Fr Muller Medical College Hospital here on Tuesday January 29 morning. He was suffering from liver failure.
Shaktinagar, who entertained people with outstanding performances in Tulu comedy plays was actively involved in Tulu theatre for last three decades though lately he had kept a low profile owing to health problems.
Madhav K Shaktinagar entered into the Tulu theatre with ‘Councilor Kogganne’ which was scripted and directed by Machendranath Pandeshwar. He also performed in hundreds of popular Tulu plays like ‘Bale Cha Parka’, ‘Oriyaddhori Asal’, ‘Gantethand’, ‘Onthe Adjust Malpule’ and others.
He even acted in Tulu cinemas such as ‘Satya Olundu’ and ‘Onte Adjust Malpi’. He worked in various troupes including Vijaykumar Kodialbail’s ‘Kala Sangama’, ‘Devdas Kapikad’s ‘Cha Parka’ and ‘Vijaya Artistes’ troupe of Kinnigoli and others.
His wife Veena K Shaktinagar and brother Kushalkumar are also well-known dramatists.
