Margao, Dec 31 (TOI): Nuvem MLA Francisco Xavier Pacheco alias Mickky joined the Goa Su-Raj Party (GSRP) along with his supporters, at the Betalbatim panchayat hall, on Friday.
Pacheco had on Wednesday resigned as MLA and quit the Goa Vikas Party (GVP) he founded, to join GSRP.
Announcing Pacheco as GSRP's Nuvem candidate, the party's founder-member, Floriano Lobo, released its 23-point election manifesto titled 'Goa Good Governance Party', that seeks to introduce the presently banned dhirios (bullfights) as an animal sport.
The GSRP manifesto promises a mining policy to benefit every Goan family to the tune of Rs 10,000. "This amount of Rs 10,000, that will be given to every Goan family, will neither be collected by taxing citizens nor taken from the state treasury. It will be obtained from the interest accrued after recovering the Rs 35,000 crore swindled by mining firms from Goans," Lobo said.
The party's general secretary, Inacio Vas, said GSRP is presently scrutinizing potential candidates and is seeking an alliance with other parties. "If there is no alliance, GSRP will field a minimum of 30 candidates," he said. "The first list of candidates will be declared next week."
Vas also clarified that GSRP has frozen its earlier announcement of four candidates it had declared in September this year.
