Mangalore, Feb 1: "Nurses should develop nursing vision to create quality care and the establishment of nursing mission statement is also the need of the hour", said Dr AV Raman, principal of Chennai-based Omayal Aachi College of Nursing, in her inaugural address.
She was addressing the gathering at national conference, 'ADMICON – '08' on 'informed nursing service administration saves life' which was held at Hotel Moti Mahal, here on Friday, February 1. The conference was organized by Lakshmi Memorial Education Trust (LMET).
She further added that integration and coordination between service and research is highly essential in establishing nursing mission statement, translating research into service is a welcoming decision in this regard. She further opined that the workplace should not become a mere work place rather serve as the environment conducive for learning.
According to her, management and nurses should go hand in hand, as the goal of two is extending medical care to patients, in order to bring in qualitative share of best practice.
Now, the health care has undergone tremendous changes in the direction of improvement, even the numbers of hospitals are increased, owing to which patients have choices to choose doctors and the hospital unlike before, Dr LL Joshua, medical superintendent of Fr Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH), while stressing that nurses need to adopt much expected qualities, such as punctuality and quick approach, in his address on the occasion.
He stressed the necessity of availing the help of hospital management to organize the hospital administration and thus discharge responsibilities at a fast phase. Punctuality should be given the serious thought, as it would prove useful to better the routine of hospitals.
