Mangaluru, Jan 7: Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike, Fajir unit on Saturday, January 7 condemned the registration of case against MP Nalin Kumar Kateel despite his clarification which was published in the media and backed the MP.

Addressing a press meet here, leader of Hita Rakshana Vedike Rajesh Shetty said, "It has been several months since Karthik Raj's murder and attempts to murder some of the Hindu activists. But police have failed to crack the cases and arrest the culprits. Thus the locals along with some organisations held a protest in front of Konaje police station.

"Our MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who was part of the protest got emotional and by mistake made a wrong statement. The Congress and the communist parties have made this a big issue and despite the MP's apology, case has been registered against him.

"These political parties have not raised their voices even though many such incidents have occured elsewhere but now they are talking about the statement made by Nalin Kumar Kateel. The MP did not make this statement with any wrong intention.

"We demand the police to trace and arrest the culprits at the earliest. If not, we demand the case to be transferred to the CBI. We will hold severe protests if the accused are not arrested in the next ten days. We stand by our MP, he has done nothing wrong," Shetty asserted.

The slain Karthik's father Umesh Fajir said, "My son was not into any organisation and did not have any enmity with anyone. I urge the department to arrest the accused at the earliest, only then will my son's soul will rest in peace."

Leaders of Hindu Hita Rakshana Vedike Jagadeesh Alva, Sesappa Poojary and others were present.

I appreciate Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike's concern and sympathy on Karthik's murder. But at the same why they don't have same concern about Vinayak Baliga, Harish Poojary and Praveen Poojary's murder.
